04 — Why “Mary Rose”?

Ships that brought people together.

  1. 1510the ship was built and was then considered invincible
  2. 1545she sank in a battle with the French
  3. 1980sthe wreck was raised; today it is in the Mary Rose Museum in Portsmouth

The Mary Rose was one of the most famous warships of King Henry VIII’s navy. The name was taken from the king’s beloved sister, Mary Tudor, known as the Tudor Rose. The rose was also the symbol of the dynasty.

Examination of the remains showed that the crew was multicultural, with people from many countries. The Mary Rose was both their workplace and their home. We want to bring people together in the same way: regardless of origin, views or character.
